My motivation to become a teacher stems from my love of learning. For me, learning--or education--has been incredibly empowering. I am a late bloomer, and returned to school in my 30's. For the first time in my life I actually know that I can do anything. It's an amazing feeling, even frighteningly overwhelming at times. I still remember some of the incredibly influential teachers I had that tried to get that into my head at a younger age. The sad fact is I didn't realize it or appreciate it until now.
I returned to school as a Graphic Design major, and quickly realized that's not what I wanted to do. I began studying Art History & fell in love. Teaching comes naturally, to me; whether it's children or training adults on the job. It makes me happy. I am nervous about entering the politics of the school system, but feel I am making the right choice. Now, If I could have my own Art History/Travel Channel show.....
